The arrival of beach holidays in our country and especially the construction of the steam tram line put into service in 1886, meant major changes occurred.
Staying with the Eerebout family at Hotel Astel feels like coming home. A warm atmosphere, a welcoming greeting and a dedicated contact during your stay. Bart, Carine and An Sofie are ready to take care of your stay down to the last detail.
On July 19, 1970, the hotel became the property of the not-for-profit association Vrienden van het Zeepreventorium (Friends of the Zeepreventorium; a care by the sea association). The hotel changed its name again but for the last time: Hotel Astel. Astel is a combination of Asthma and Hotel. The original
intention was that the parents could stay at the Astel to better follow their children's progress.
In April 2012, the Eerebout family bought the hotel and saved it from the project developers
It was restored to its former glory with attention to detail and protection of the building. The hotel opened its doors in July and received its four stars in December. Its magnificence of the past has been brought back.
